In some industries and production processes, contamination by even the smallest particles can compromise products. Cleanrooms and certified belt conveyors prevent this problem.

Cleanrooms play a crucial role in various industries when the focus is on the production of high-quality products. They are used in the electronics industry, pharmaceuticals, food production, aerospace, and semiconductor manufacturing. One of the key elements in cleanrooms are belt conveyors that ensure a smooth and controlled material flow during production. These specially developed belt conveyors are instrumental in meeting the strict requirements for cleanliness and precision.

The role of cleanrooms in modern manufacturing

Cleanrooms are highly controlled environments designed to minimize contamination of products and processes. Cleanroom classes range from ISO 1 (the strictest class) to ISO 9 (the lowest class), with each class setting specific requirements for air quality and cleanliness. In such environments, controlling the flow of materials is critical to ensuring the integrity of manufactured products.

Specifications and features of cleanroom belt conveyors

Belt conveyors used in cleanrooms must meet specific requirements to maintain the cleanroom standard. Various factors play an essential role in the design and selection of cleanroom belt conveyors:

  • Materials: The materials used for the belt conveyor must be easy to clean and sterilize.
  • Cleanliness: Belt conveyors must be designed so that they do not emit particles or dust that could affect product quality. This requires careful design and regular maintenance.
  • Controlled drive: The speed and belt run of the belt conveyor must be adjusted precisely to ensure that no abrasion occurs and that cleanroom requirements are met.

Certified belt conveyors for cleanrooms

An objective, feasible, and meaningful assessment of the cleanliness-relevant properties of belt conveyors is particularly important to ensure sufficiently clean production areas. As an independent, public research institution, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation IPA offers objective and internationally recognized certification services.

Montech cleanroom belt conveyors

Fraunhofer IPA has also tested and certified three of our belt conveyors. With the TB30R-140×1500/VR belt conveyor, the TB40R-400×1500/VR belt conveyor, and the TB30R-140×1500/MR belt conveyor, we offer transport solutions for a wide range of companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and semiconductor industries, for example for the intralogistics of catheters, syringes, liquid handling, microprocessors, and optical component products. All three certified belt conveyors are used as infeed and outfeed belts in individual production systems or for linking entire production processes. In addition to cleanroom compatibility, the belts also have FDA approval. Thanks to the modular design of the belt conveyors, they can be assembled individually and extended or shortened at any time simply and cost-effectively.

Good to know: In addition to the three belt conveyors tested and certified by the Fraunhofer IPA, other belt conveyor widths and lengths are also suitable for cleanrooms.
